We should learn grammar from language, and not language from grammar. What does that mean?
We should have a lot of EXPOSURE to the language – spoken and written. And we should refer to grammar only as a reference, to clarify and organize the content you’ve been receiving. And not the other way round. A recommended ratio is 80% implicit learning (exposure to lots of listening and reading) and 20% explicit learning (analyzing grammar rules just to clear out any doubts).
That way, language learning becomes much more meaningful, fun and less stressful, as you learn the language instead of learning about the language.
